91精选 Celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
On Monday, Jan. 16, the 91精选 community came together to remember Martin Luther King, Jr., and his legacy.
The theme of this year鈥檚 celebration was 鈥淚 have decided to stick with love…Hate is too great a burden to bear.鈥� That quote comes from a speech, 鈥淲here Do We Go From Here?鈥� that King delivered in 1967 to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
Students, faculty, staff, and other members of the 91精选 community gathered in Ozinga Chapel for the celebration. 91精选 students offered poetry, songs, prayer, skits, and miming. Participants included:

91精选鈥檚 Gospel Choir, Worship Coordinator Nicole Saint-Victor, and Greg Saint-Victor celebrated King鈥檚 life through music. Pres. Kurt D. Dykstra, J.D., opened with prayer, and Dr. Aaron Kuecker, 91精选鈥檚 provost, provided a reading from I Corinthians 13.
In his message, Troy Schemper, director of student programs, urged those in attendance to continue their efforts to complete King鈥檚 work. 鈥淒on鈥檛 mistake progress for completion,鈥� Schemper urged.
